Winter Driving Tips:
My favorite tip for driving in ice and snow is to drive like you have a cup of water on your dash. Brake and accelerate softly. Take turns slowly and gently (don't spill that cup of water)
It's not uncommon to have to sit in your car on the Donner pass in traffic while they clear the road, so pack snacks, water and blankets!
Caltrans Cameras:
Soda springs camera is the start of the Donner pass. Hyw 80 Old Ag Sta camera is at the other end of the pass. They will most likely hold traffic at these locations if its snowing too heavy and or vehicles (semi trucks) are sliding.
